Spring is quickly approaching – with every ray of sun that kisses our skin, with every degree more outside and with every additional hour that we get to see the sun in the evening, we feel more alive, more active and more adventurous after the long months of winter.

Therefore, the convenient excuses of our inner couch potato to stay inside rather than going out for a run no longer apply. “It’s way too cold/already dark outside/raining” …. no matter what excuse you had – the time has come to put an end to the lazy days! Especially when you’re far away from home staying at the carathotel Düsseldorf, you’ll be running out of excuses: we literally ran the extra mile and selected the greatest running tracks in Düsseldorf for you! The best part is that you can even combine your exercise with some sightseeing: let’s go sightjogging!

Our first 7.5-kilometer route leads directly through the Oberkassel district. Starting at the Oberkasseler Rheinbrücke, run along the banks of the river Rhine until Theodor-Heuss bridge. Afterwards, continue towards Niederkasseler Deich and run back towards the Rheinbrücke. The route along the banks of the river Rhine in Oberkassel, which is shaped like an “eight”, provides a stunning view of Düsseldorf city. On the way back, your eyes will most likely focus on the huge Rheinturm tower.

The second track starts directly at the carathotel, leading towards the banks of the river Rhine at Parlamentsufer and across the pedestrian bridge towards Medienhafen. Run past the golf course to your left. Right after having passed the suburban train stations, we leave the riverside path and turn left to Kuhstraße after a few meters before entering Fringsstraße on the right. From this point, follow the way until arriving at the foot of the Rheinturm tower and run back to the hotel alongside the river. Overall, this track has a length of about 10 kilometers.

Our third track is nearly 6 kilometers long and also starts at the carathotel. The route leads across the river on the Rheinkniebrücke towards Oberkassel district, where you’ll be making a broad turn and run back towards the Old Town and the hotel.

If you don’t find these tracks demanding enough, try the following route: start directly at the hotel and choose the track right of the river Rhine until reaching Theodor-Heuss bridge. Cross the Rhine here and run back to the hotel along the banks on the other side of the river. The route leads underneath the Rheinbrücke until Rheinkniebrücke. Here you need to cross the river once again and run back along the banks of the river Rhine until reaching the hotel.

By following these tips, you’ll be well-prepared for a jog while staying with us at carathotel Düsseldorf! Don’t forget to pack your running shoes!
